30AUG

▲Nice
After cycling (and railroading) many kilometres all the way from Paris through Bourgogne, the Savoie and the Luberon, I finally get to swim in the Mediterranean.

▲Nice, old town.

Icecream shop strategically located at the start of the Villefranche old town.

▲Èze
Fair to say we did hills this morning!

▲Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
My new mate, Julien, who lives on a boat.
He tells me St Jean Cap Ferrat used to be a mosquito and rat-infested wasteland before it filled up with billionaires.

▲Grand Canal, Venice, Italy
Just a few steps from the train station... amazing!

▲Piazza del Ponterosso
Trieste (brilliant!), and...

▲Croatia
...finally Croatia!

▲Karlobag

▲Split
Big day today!

▲Morska vila, Vrbnik
Had a lunchtime swim here, and enjoyed a fruit drink at the cool little beach bar.

▲Sumpetar, Splitsko-Dalmatinska, Croatia
Breakfast here.

▲Makarska, Croatia
Hills yesterday, on the top of the climb to get around to Brela here: D8, 21255, Zadvarje, Croatia https://goo.gl/maps/cBDNktFNwqk。
More today to get to Grab Grab Bosnia and Herzegovina https://goo.gl/maps/HmboWkXKj7u。

▲Tučepi
Mary and an angel keeping an eye on the bike at a church on the way out to Prolog in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"They said you'd never make it...."
Pushin' pedals, pushin' watts.. pushin' 70!
The Veteran confounding the doubters,
as he grinds his way up 1000m or so into the range separating the Croatian coast from Bosnia and Herzegovina where his mum was born.

▲Mostar
Just about to have breakfast in this bike friendly hotel (picture on the wall) in Ljubuski in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

▲Slano
After the ride from Neum to Slano turned out to be less than agreeable,
we decided to try our luck sneaking onto a local bus with the bikes folded onto their bags... driver didn't bat an eyelid.
Probably the best 23 kuna I've ever spent.

▲Bokun guesthouse
The little alleyway leading up to the guesthouse from the street along the old harbour,
and the path through the garden to the rooms.

▲Ljuta, Federation Of Bosnia And Herzegovina
The average sedan test: got both bikes, six bags and two humans (in addition to driver Dimitar) into this Skoda Octavia.
My theories about the advantages of folding bikes for trains, coaches, local buses, accommodation, etc have been thoroughly vindicated.
Four border crossings, a vehicle ferry, nine hours or so and we should be in Skopje!
