30AUG
Miraculously, the bikes have survived bouncing around inside cardboard boxes in planes for the best part of a day from Perth to Paris via Doha.

▲Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris
Riding around Paris is brilliant!

▲Fontaines du Théâtre-Français
The Veteran, undertaking to guard the machine while I grab a drink on Rue Saint-Honoré.

This was the ride for the day.

All bagged-up at Gare de Lyon, ready for the TGV trip to Dijon.

Petit dejeuner in Saint-Gengoux-le-national.

Les vaches.

Anyone who's seen the film Back to Burgundy will probably recognise this old abbey entryway.

▲Annecy

Mid-twenties. Enough for a dip in the lake.

Alpine yabbies.

▲Grésy-Sur-Isère, Rhone-Alpes, France
Heading towards Chambery, currently here.

▲Gare d‘Avignon-Centre
Here are some pics of my folding bike being assembled after we got off the train from Chambery.

▲Camping du Grand Bois
Perfect little campground, just out of Avignon... and we have it all to ourselves (except for a nice Dutch couple).

▲L' Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

▲Gourdon
Turns out that all the villages that are particularly picturesque in the Luberon involve fairly steep climbs, and the ones along the cycle route are a bit.. less so.
But a short uphill diversion up to Goult was worthwhile.

▲Apt
Market day in Apt... time for breakfast.

▲Aix-en-Provence
Just had the most sensational light lunch of cheese, meat, bread and wine.
Aix on Provence is now on my 'list'.

▲Shire offices in Aix

Bikes only. "A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its cyclists."
